According to Alessandro Paluzzi, a leaker known to follow Meta's activities, Instagram is investigating the possibility of creating longer Reels.
On the platform, Reels allow you to create videos to share with friends or anyone else.
Originally, Reels had a time limit of 15 seconds, which was later doubled to 30 seconds, then quadrupled.
Indeed, since last July, Instagram users can create Reels with a maximum duration of 60 seconds.
But in the near future, users might be able to shoot 90-second or 1.5-minute videos.
Compete with TikTok
For comparison, TikTok, already allows users to shoot much longer videos.
In July last year, the platform increased its limit from 60 seconds to three minutes.
Similarly, Google launched its “short videos” with the YouTube Shorts service.
Like Instagram, it allows content to be shared up to 60 seconds long.
On another level, Instagram recently added support for Avatars.
No doubt to compete with Snap's Bitmoji feature.
This new feature allows users to share their 3D Avatars in Stories and DMs.
At the moment, it is available in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Note that this is a leak.
The 90 second option has not yet rolled out to users and Instagram has not officially confirmed its intention to extend the length of Reels videos.
