The deputy head of the 'Women's and Youth Prostitution Eradication Team' (Women's Cheongdan), who allegedly engaged in anti-prostitution activities, colluded with a gang that actually operates prostitution establishments and received profits from the establishments, was arrested while fleeing abroad.

The Office of the International Cooperation Officer at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office announced that it had repatriated the deputy commander of the women's agency, A, who fled to the United States in cooperation with the US Department of Homeland Security's Investigation Unit (HSI) yesterday (3rd) in the form of deportation.

Founded in April 2016 in the name of eradicating the prostitution of women and youth, the Women's Chungdan is an organization that has taken over prostitution establishments in Gyeonggi-do in cooperation with gangs.

Mr. A was accused of participating in the women's service in receiving money, such as paralyzing the sales calls of so-called 'call owners' using the automatic phone call system and calling entertainment bar owners to their offices to kneel.

Mr. B, the founder and main culprit of the women's club, was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison by the Supreme Court on charges of violating the Act on Punishment of Violence and Punishment (joint coercion) in 2020, but Mr. A, who fled to the United States in 2019, was not caught until recently. After the court sentenced Mr. A to 2 years and 6 months in prison in February last year, the Supreme Prosecutor's Office cooperated with the US HSI to investigate and confirmed the fact and location of Mr. A's illegal stay in the US.

HSI and the U.S. Deportation Enforcement Organization (ERO), which have narrowed their investigation network, arrested Mr. A in Virginia in December of last year and proceeded with the deportation process.

The Supreme Prosecutor's Office said, "After selecting a major fugitive, the Office of the International Cooperation Officer assigns them to a dedicated investigator and works closely with foreign investigative agencies to track them down." was arrested and repatriated,” he explained.
