Lee Jong-myeong, former deputy chief of the National Intelligence Service, was sentenced to death for indicting illegal inspections during the Lee Myung-bak administration.

The first division of the Supreme Court (Chief Justice Roh Tae-ak) confirmed the lower court sentenced to six months in prison in the appeals trial of former Deputy Chief Lee, who was accused of violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment for Specific Crimes (loss of national treasury, etc.), embezzlement at work, and violating the National Intelligence Service Act. I did.

Former Deputy Director Lee was accused of using the budget for the so-called 'Davidson Project' and the 'Salmon Project' in 2011-2012, following the instructions of the then head of the National Intelligence Service, Won Se-hoon, to confirm the rumors of slander between former Presidents Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun.

It was found that 470 million won and 10,000 dollars were used for the Davidson business, and 85,000 dollars from the national treasury were used for the salmon business.

The first and second trial judges found guilty of these charges, but found that the charges of ordering the following of Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, who visited Japan in 2012 and Kwon Yang-sook, wife of former President Roh, who visited China in 2011, were not proven.

I also found it difficult to plead guilty to the charge of conducting extensive inspections against people who expressed opposition to the government at the time, such as actor Moon Seong-geun.

The first trial ruled not guilty, but the court of appeals overturned the judgment and overturned the judgment, saying, "There was no intelligence that Mrs. Kwon and former Mayor Park met with North Korea, or there was no circumstance to enter internal affairs under the National Security Act, and it seems that the activity was politically intentional." He was sentenced to 6 months and suspended for 6 months.

The Supreme Court affirmed the sentence as it was, noting that there was no error in the judgment of the lower court.
