KT CEO Koo Koo Koo, who was briefly indicted on charges of 'spending support' to lawmakers, was sentenced to a fine of 10 million won.

Judge Shin Se-ah of Seoul Central District Court sentenced Koo to a fine of 10 million won, equal to the amount of the summary order request.

Nine group executives and employees who were summaryly indicted on the same charges were each sentenced to a fine of 4 million won to 5 million won.

Representative Koo is accused of illegally donating 14 million won in political funds to a support group of 13 members of the National Assembly in September 2016.

Previously, from May 2014 to October 2017, KT created a slush fund worth 1.15 billion won in the so-called 'gift certificate gang' method, which purchased gift certificates from May 2014 to October 2017 and then sold them back to cash, and raised 437.9 million won to 19.20. Employees of related departments were indicted without detention on charges of illegally sponsoring 99 members of the opposition and opposition lawmakers.

In a statement today (20th), when the judgment was announced, the KT new union said, "The convicted crime is a crime in which slush funds raised with company money were delivered to lawmakers in their personal names, which included embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds." "I was involved in a crime that was very inappropriate to continue my (CEO) position."
