In the first trial, an independent lawmaker Yang Jeong-suk (57), who was handed over to trial on charges of underreporting his property during the 21st general election, was sentenced to invalidation of the election.

The 11th Criminal Division of the Seoul Southern District Court (Chief Judge Seong Bo-gi) paid a fine of 3 million won for violating the Public Official Election Act and probation of 8 months in prison for false accusation to lawmaker Yang, who was charged with violating the Public Official Election Act on the 20th. They were sentenced to two years each.

At the final trial, the prosecution demanded a fine of 5 million won for violating the Public Official Election Act and one year in prison for false accusation.

If a member of the National Assembly is sentenced to a fine of 1 million won or more for violating the Public Official Election Act, the election becomes invalid.
