Barely back from the International Space Station, Thomas Pesquet still has his head in the stars.

Guest of BFMTV on Tuesday, he confided in the next goals he would like to achieve in his professional career.

For the French astronaut, walking on the Moon will be the next step.

“The Moon is the next step, we are working on it a lot.

The flights are there.

With the current dynamic, the place of France, the place of Europe, it is not impossible.

So I'm going to do everything in my power to make this happen, I'm crossing my fingers very strongly, ”he said at the microphone of the channel.

After the Moon, Mars?

According to him, the first flights to the Moon will soon be operational.

A test flight to the Earth satellite with the unmanned Orion spacecraft is planned for this year 2022. On the other hand, the flight with a crew will only take place by 2024, explain our colleagues.

This step will of course define the next one: that of going to Mars!

“Mars is really where we will answer fundamental questions about the origin of life, these are the next steps in space exploration,” concluded the famous astronaut.

Thomas Pesquet has already completed two stays in the International Space Station (ISS), in 2016 then 2021. He is the first Frenchman to have taken command of the ISS and the first European assigned to a mission aboard the Crew Dragon, designed by SpaceX.
