The police investigating the collapse of the new Hwajeong I-Park apartment complex in Gwangju HDC Hyundai Industrial Development is paying attention to the fact that the collapse occurred during the concrete pouring process today (19th) and is gathering investigative power.

The Gwangju Seo-gu New Apartment Collapse Accident Investigation Headquarters (Gwangju Police Agency) determined that all 8 workers who were pouring concrete on the 39th floor just before the collapse on the 11th were foreign workers.

Some claimed that the pouring work was done by skilled workers moving in teams, but it is known that most of them were unskilled workers as some were illegal immigrants.

In particular, it was revealed that they were not affiliated with Company A, which had a frame construction contract with HDC Hyundai Development Company, the construction company.

It was found that Company B, which leases equipment such as concrete pump cars, was involved and put them in.

The police plan to determine whether their work is illegal by investigating who actually managed and supervised their work, and how the contractual relationship and structure were established.

There were some media reports that these workers had disappeared, but the investigation headquarters explained, "We have secured sufficient statements about the situation at the time from the chief of the pouring class," and "there is contact with the police, so there is no hindrance to the investigation."

In addition, the police seized and searched the Hwajeong I-Park field office and secured 27 specimens (samples) made at the time of pouring.

It was intended to determine the cause of collapse, such as lack of concrete curing, but there was no specimen on the site for the 38th floor closest to the collapse point.

However, the Hyeonsan side arbitrarily submitted a public specimen for the floor to the police today.

The police plan to send this specimen to the Construction Accident Investigation Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to review the analysis results.
