The search for missing persons at the site of the collapse of the residential and commercial complex in Seo-gu, Gwangju has entered a prolonged phase with the activation of the 'work stoppage' to ensure safety.

On the morning of the 15th, the Integrated Countermeasures Headquarters for Accident Management, in which Gwangju City and related organizations participated, announced, "Based on the activation of the right to stop work and expert advice, the scheduled start of dismantling the tower crane has been postponed from tomorrow to next Friday."

The countermeasure headquarters said, "We were going to proceed with the assembly of the crane and the reinforcement of the tower crane at the same time, but the plan was changed to reinforcement after assembly."

He added, "If the right to stop work occurs, the construction company cannot force workers to work, so it is necessary to secure safety."

The right to stop work means the right of a worker to stop work when an industrial accident occurs or there is a risk of it.

After the collapse, the task force set up a search policy to dismantle a part of the tower crane that was tilted and start searching for missing persons in the upper floors of the building.

As the start of dismantling the tower crane is delayed, it is unavoidable to prolong the search schedule.

In the upper floors of the 23rd to 38th floors where the collapse occurred, there was a pile of rubble and there was a cliff space.

The upper floor of the building is also the point where the search dog showed a special reaction along with the first basement floor where one missing person (determined death) was recovered the day before.

He also urged politicians to refrain from visiting the site so that they could focus all their efforts on the search for the missing.

One of the missing persons was found dead on the first basement floor yesterday afternoon, the fourth day of the collapse, and the search for the remaining five people is parallel with the removal of debris.
