A new mutation of Corona was confirmed again in southern France. According to the analysis results so far, there seems to be a more threatening side than Omicron, but how quickly the mutation spreads will be a variable.

For more details, medical reporter Dong-chan Cho will deliver.

is a new mutation paper published by the French Center for Mediterranean Infection Research.

A total of 12 people, 5 children and 6 adults, were infected with Corona through one adult who visited Cameroon, and it was not a delta or omicron, but a new type.

Compared to the previous virus, there were 46 mutations, 30 different protein structures, and 12 disappeared.

Domestic experts compared and analyzed Omicron mutations, and E484K and F490 mutations are the same as Omicron, and like Omicron's D936H, there is D1139H in the new mutation.

The lethality was predicted to be lower than delta and higher than omicron by the extent of beta mutation.

The problem is that there are D614G and T859N variants.

This is because it is likely a mutation that has both high lethality and transmission power.

However, it does not appear to be faster than the speed of propagation of microns.

All 12 new mutant infections were confirmed in November last year, but the number of patients did not skyrocket for over a month.

Omicron spread to six continents in one week.

The mutation is more prevalent in areas where vaccination rates are low and infections are high.

This is why the World Health Organization considers that the second vaccination in underdeveloped countries such as Africa is more urgent than the third vaccination in some countries.

[Ghebreyesus/World Health Organization Secretary-General: Excessive vaccination in some countries is preventing the vaccine from being evenly distributed and leading to the emergence of new mutations.]

To prevent mutations from occurring, we need international cooperation beyond the selfishness of vaccines. .
