The number of infected with Omicron, a new mutant virus of COVID-19, increased by 109 in one day.



The Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters (Bangdaebon) announced that as of 00:00 on the 29th, 109 additional cases of Omicron mutation were confirmed, bringing the total number of infected people to 558.



The number of new Omicron confirmed cases today is the highest since the first Omicron infection in Korea on the 1st.



So far, the number of Omicron infections has never exceeded 100 per day.



Of the new confirmed cases, 69 were imported from abroad, and 40 were domestic (local infections).



Of the 69 newly imported cases, 46 were from the United States, 4 from the UK, 2 each from Nigeria, Ethiopia, Canada, and Hungary, Mexico, Morocco, Malta, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Argentina, Uganda, India, There is one entry each from Kenya, Tanzania, and the Philippines.



Details such as the route of infection and the region of occurrence of domestic infections have not been confirmed.



Of the 558 cumulative Omicron infections, 306 were domestically infected and 252 were imported.
