• The best ... 15 memorable series that leaves this 2021

  • Made in Spain Five Spanish series that are worth it

In 2021 many series have been released.

Some, with new chapters.

And,

beyond

The Squid Game

or

Mare of Easttown

, there are many others of which

little (or very little) has been commented on for how good they are

on platforms such as Netflix, Disney +, Amazon Prime Video or HBO MAX Spain.

THE HARTUNG CASE (Netflix)

This apparently conventional thriller

comes from Denmark,

but it stands out as a

dark, rugged story

that refers to apparently current issues.

And all with the excuse of some murders that two agents must solve, of course, incompatible with each other from the outset.

It grows as the plot progresses

, in which there are political notes.

WHAT IF? / WHAT IF ...?

(Disney +)

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe already in Phase 4, this animated series

anticipated (and made the most of) the concept of the Multiverse

.

That is, the ability to tell stories with characters already known in situations very different from those we imagine.

Or, what is the same, in

other parallel universes

in which Thor is not so good, Captain Marvel has a colleague as powerful as him or Ultron has taken control of the world.

SERVANT (Apple TV +)

About to premiere its third season in January, this series produced by

M. Night Shyamalan

(

The Sixth Sense

,

Multiple

)

is still as 'messy' as ever

.

And with an ability to convince us that a nice mansion can be the worst place in the world for a good class couple.

THE UNDERGROUND RAILWAY (Amazon Prime Video)

Barry Jenkins, director of the Oscar-winning

Moonlight

, plunges us into a period as sinister for African Americans in the United States as the 19th century was.

Slavery was legal

and the characters in this story dream of disappearing from their plantations in search of a new life.

Dramatic and with a leisurely pace

, this production uncovers how people who were not free would fight to be free one day.

IN THERAPY (HBO MAX Spain)

After the first stage with Gabriel Byrne at the helm, this series has a new protagonist.

Uzo Aduba composes a character

, that of the psychotherapist who attends to her clients,

who brings good sense and calm in the

face of storms as unexpected as those that come to her office.

SOLAR OPPOSITES (Disney +)

Lively hooliganism with a lot of social criticism.

So is this animated production devised by one of the creators of

Rick and Morty.

Like that one, here there is also black humor, excessive violence and situations that make it incompatible for children.

All the moments in which

four aliens interact with humans

without them knowing that their end is near

are hilarious

.

PHYSICAL (Apple TV +)

Rose Byrne

once again proves that she is a chameleon actress, now putting herself in the shoes of

a San Diego housewife who takes refuge in aerobics

.

Although, to be honest, the black humor notes in this series come from everything else that happens around the protagonist in the 80s that changed the US and its customs completely.

BLESSED PATIENCE (HBO MAX Spain)

Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard

return in this second season to star in scenes in which their characters, a couple with children, dismantle the idyllic image of a happy and smiling family.

A carousel of gags (with notes of black humor) capable of taking away the desire to be parents (and mothers) to more than one.

LOVE, DEATH AND ROBOTS (Netflix)

An animated series that was for a time among the most watched on Netflix ... but it did not generate much conversation in networks and on the street.

Different animated chapters tell independent stories

in which the 'love, death or robots' of the title are present.

Of course, with

different animation techniques

and in a healthy competition to be each chapter the most extravagant ... and sinister.

STAR WARS: VISIONS (Disney +)

In a year in which

The Mandalorian

and the new

Boba Fett

try to

quench the thirst of fans of the galactic saga

, this series became a 'rare bird'.

It is Japanese and, with the permission of the owners of

Star Wars

,

renews the classic stories and characters with a free adaptation that brings them closer to the Japanese culture.

Different and very special.
