According to the Ministry of Environment, the number of transparent plastic bottles that entered private sorting centers increased from 461 tons in December last year to 1,233 tons in November this year due to the implementation of the separate discharge system for transparent plastic bottles in apartment houses.
Accordingly, the monthly production of high-quality plastic recyclable materials produced in Korea increased from 1,700 tons in December last year to 3,800 tons in November this year.
Waste PET imports are expected to decrease from 66,700 tons last year to 30,000 tons this year.
The Ministry of Environment announced that it would quickly establish a sorting facility for separate sorting of collected transparent PET bottles.
