Four of the domestic Omicron mutations were confirmed to be infected after completing the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters announced yesterday (18th) that 12 additional cases of Omicron mutation were confirmed in one day, bringing the total to 178.

Of the 178 cumulative infections, 88, or 49%, were unvaccinated, 4 received the first dose, and 76 received the second dose, but were infected.

And four others were found to be infected with Omicron even after the third dose.

The ages of these four or the timing of the third dose are unknown.

In addition, the inoculation history itself of the remaining 6 patients has not yet been confirmed.

Experts explained that the third dose of COVID-19 has a protective effect against omicron mutations, but it is not perfect.

In fact, a study in the UK showed that the third dose was 93-94% effective against delta mutations, but only 71-76% effective against omicron mutations.
