The Chinese rover Yutu-2 has made a curious discovery on the moon.

The satellite's exploration device captured the image of a cube observed on the horizon, reports the Huffington Post, according to information from the Chinese popular science site Our Space.

Mysterious cube-shaped “hut” or “house” discovered on the moon's far side by China's Yutu-2 moon rover.

The rover will spend the next 2-3 months verifying it.

The scientists in charge of this mission announced their find on Friday.

They would now like to send the machine closer to this strange object which they call the "mysterious hut".

Yutu-2 has been dispatched to where it is, 80 meters from its current position.

The journey to achieve this could take two to three months, specify our colleagues.

A simple rock?

It is the cubic shape of this discovery that interests researchers.

The most likely hypothesis is a rock that would have been excavated from the surface of the Moon after an impact on its surface.

A recent crater could also be nearby.

If so, it could deliver valuable information on the makeup of our natural satellite.

Three months to cover 80 meters… If the trip is so long, it's because the Chinese rover runs on solar energy.

A lunar night is 15 Earth days.

Especially since the device must avoid many obstacles on the path that separates it from its goal.

He is currently on the far side of the Moon, where he obviously still has a lot to teach us.
