Two men, 21 and 22, were shot and wounded on Thursday evening shortly before midnight in the 19th arrondissement of Paris.

The oldest, affected in the eye, has a vital prognosis.

The second was less seriously injured, knee and foot, as he tried to flee his attacker. 

Two men were shot and wounded Thursday evening in Paris by a gunman who fled on foot and one of them, seriously injured in the head, has a life-threatening prognosis, police sources said on Friday.

The two victims, aged 21 and 22, were preparing to walk back to their car, shortly before midnight in the 19th arrondissement (north-east), when a man shot them, according to one of these sources.

An open investigation

The 22-year-old man was shot in the right eye and taken to hospital with a life-threatening prognosis.

The second was less seriously injured, knee and foot, as he tried to flee his attacker.

A total of five cartridge cases and a 9mm caliber bullet were found on site.

An investigation for attempted homicide was opened and entrusted to the 2nd district of the Paris judicial police (2nd DPJ).
