It was revealed that the pastor and his wife, who were the first confirmed cases of Omicron, a new variant of COVID-19 in Korea, made false statements during an epidemiological investigation by the quarantine authorities.

According to Michuhol-gu and Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, on the 2nd, a pastor and a couple in their 40s, who were confirmed with Omicron mutation on the 25th of last month, said in an initial epidemiological investigation, "I took a quarantine taxi from the airport to my home."

However, in fact, it is reported that the couple A, who returned home from Nigeria the day before the diagnosis, was driving a car driven by Mr. B, an acquaintance in his 30s of Uzbekistan nationality.

Because of this, even after the 25th of last month, when couple A was confirmed to be confirmed, person B was not classified as a close contact of them.

After that, when Mr. B heard the news that Mr and Mrs. A had been confirmed, the first test he received also came out negative, so he lived a normal life without quarantine.

He was tested again when suspicious symptoms such as fever appeared, and he was quarantined after being tested positive on the 29th of last month.

It has been confirmed that 50 people, including family, acquaintances, and business people, have come in contact with Mr.

Among them, his wife, mother-in-law, and another acquaintance are classified as suspected cases of omicron mutation and are under investigation.

In addition, Mr. B has not been vaccinated against COVID-19, so concerns about transmission in the community are growing.

The quarantine authorities are reviewing the policy of accusing Mr and Mrs. A for violating the Act on the Prevention and Management of Infectious Diseases.

An official from the quarantine authorities explained, "Since Mr and Mrs A made false statements, Mr. B was not classified as a close contact of them."
