Passengers were unable to get out of the crumpled train and were confused, and several appeared to faint.

Today (28th) around 2pm, the monorail train that was coming into the platform fell off the track.



Eight people inside suffered serious injuries, including fractures, when they fell from a height of 7 meters and were taken to a nearby hospital.



All are known to be life-threatening.



As a result of analyzing the CCTV, it seems that the monorail train derailed due to sudden speeding in the steep section just before arrival.

The Yokjido Monorail unfortunately had a derailment accident one day before the holiday due to track maintenance in the second half of the year.



The Tongyeong Tourism Development Corporation, which is in charge of the operation, said that it has stopped operation immediately and will begin maintenance.



The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident through detailed forensics.
