The government announced that it is considering a plan to set the validity period of the quarantine pass (inoculation completion/voice confirmation) to six months after the completion of the basic vaccination.

In an online regular briefing today (26th), First Supervisor Lee Ki-il of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters said, "We are discussing setting the validity period of the quarantine pass to 6 months. I will announce it,” he said.

The controller explained that the rationale for setting the expiration date to 6 months after the primary vaccination was taken in consideration of the interval between the primary and booster vaccinations.

He said, "Elderly people (over 60 years old) can be vaccinated 4 months after the basic vaccination, and those in their 50s are scheduled to receive a booster inoculation 5 months later." We will review it in six months,” he said.

The controller said, "There is only one way to reduce the breakthrough infection," adding, "There is only one way to reduce the breakthrough infection" as a factor in the recent Corona 19 epidemic. Getting it right is the most important thing.”

Son Young-rae, head of the social strategy division of the Central Accident Resolving Headquarters, said, "As for the validity period of the quarantine pass, we are making decisions by analyzing cases and domestic situations in each country through various expert committees centered on the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention." Gap issues or coverage,Details such as future operation methods have not been confirmed at this time.”

If the validity period of the quarantine pass is designated as 6 months, there is a possibility that vaccination will be 'regular', such as receiving a COVID-19 vaccine every 6 months.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) is considering including the COVID-19 vaccine as a national mandatory vaccination target, like the influenza (flu) vaccine, in preparation for the regularization of vaccination.
