has been revealed. Elective subjects will be introduced in elementary schools from 2024, and the high school credit system will be fully implemented in 2025, reducing the proportion of Korean, English, and mathematics.

Reporter Song In-ho explains in detail.

<Reporter> The

Ministry of Education has unveiled a large frame of the curriculum reform plan for nurturing future talents.

First, elective subjects are introduced for the first time in elementary schools, where only subjects determined as a common curriculum are taught.

By reflecting the opinions of students and parents, two subjects can be created for each elementary grade, and classes can be held for less than 68 hours per semester.

In the 6th grade of elementary school and the 3rd grade of middle school, there is a 'career-related semester' for career education.

To this end, the current middle school free year system is reorganized into a free semester for the first year and a career-linked semester for the second semester of the third year.

The biggest change is in high schools where the high school credit system is implemented.

It will be implemented in 2025 as a system that allows students to freely choose the subjects they want and receive the credits required for graduation, just like in a university.

While the weight of Korean, English, and mathematics, which are the foundations of the current CSAT, is given, the number of elective subjects required for careers is greatly increased.

[Park Hyung-joo/Chairman of the National Curriculum Revision Promotion Committee: I think it is necessary to design the system so that students do not harm them even if they choose non-admission subjects, but rather help them in a sense.]

The college admission system will change from the 2028 academic year in line with the implementation of the high school credit system.

[Yoo Eun-hye / Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education: The current CSAT system does not continue as it is.

The (university) evaluation should reflect the full revision of the 2022 revised curriculum and the curriculum centered on the high school credit system…

.] The

new curriculum will be finalized and announced next year, and the college admission reform plan will be announced around February 2024.
