Four days after a pregnant woman was diagnosed with Corona, she gave birth much earlier than expected. However, the baby was dead, and as a result of the test, it was confirmed that the baby was also infected with Corona. This is the first time this has happened in Korea, and the family said they were confused because the quarantine authorities did not know how to respond.

Reporter Park Soo-jin reported.

<Reporter> The

mother was confirmed on the 18th, the 25th week of pregnancy.

There were only mild symptoms such as sore throat and fever.

The vaccine didn't work.

On the phone with SBS, the family said that they did not get it because they did not know how much it would affect the fetus because there were a lot of side effects from the vaccine.

The problem started after the diagnosis was confirmed.

As the mother's condition worsened, she had to move to the hospital, but it was delayed due to the lack of beds for corona patients.

There was no crisis response manual on how to respond when the mother was confirmed and the fetus was concerned, and the medical staff said they were confused.

The family claims that the public health center and the ward office did not properly answer related inquiries, and the call center of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was not contacted.

The mother gave birth to a fetus in the 26th week of pregnancy on the 22nd, four days after the diagnosis.

The corona test result of the deceased fetus came out positive.

The quarantine authorities are of the position that an expert evaluation is needed to determine whether the mother was infected or not and the exact cause of death.

The government said that this case was not included in the official COVID-19 death statistics because it was a case of death before the birth was registered.
