Former President Park Geun-hye (69), who is imprisoned in Seoul Detention Center, was admitted to an outside hospital for the third time this year.

According to the Ministry of Justice on the 22nd, former President Park was hospitalized at Samsung Seoul Hospital in Gangnam-gu, Seoul and receiving treatment today.

The Ministry of Justice said, "(Ex-President Park) will focus on treatment for new patients according to the opinion of the hospital's medical staff during the hospitalization period, and the discharge schedule is undecided."

In July of this year, former President Park was hospitalized at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital to observe the procedure of shoulder surgery and treat back pain, and received treatment for a month.

Earlier this year, he was classified as a close contact with COVID-19 and was admitted to the same hospital, but tested negative and was treated for 20 days.

An official from the Ministry of Justice explained the reason why he was hospitalized at Samsung Seoul Hospital instead of St. Mary's Hospital, where he was receiving treatment, saying, "The hospital was moved by agreement between the attending physician and the patient. I did.

Former President Park was sentenced to 20 years in prison, fined 18 billion won and a fine of 3.5 billion won, at the Supreme Court in January of this year on charges of state-run nongdan and reimbursing expenses for special activities by the National Intelligence Service.
