FMBA: WHO recommended using the Russian system for detecting COVID-19 as a reference

“The tests carried out by the Robert Koch Institute have shown that the tests produced by the CSP of the FMBA of Russia are among the most sensitive and specific on the Russian market and the market of the CIS countries,” said Veronika Skvortsova, head of FMBA Russia.

She noted that tests showed better performance of Russian test systems in samples with a lower viral load.

Accordingly, they are the most sensitive to virus detection.

"The expert of the Robert Koch Institute, Christina Domingo-Carrasco, proposed to use the test system of the CSP of the FMBA of Russia as a reference method for detecting cases of SARS-CoV-2," Skvortsova said.

In April 2020, WHO included in the list of promising developments a vaccine against coronavirus infection, created by the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Vaccines and Sera, FMBA.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) is awaiting approval of the Sputnik V vaccine by the World Health Organization by the end of 2021.
