The motorcycle season is over, at least in our part of the world. Scooters are also taken out of the garage less often when it is dirty and gloomy outside. Traditionally, this is the time when the two-wheeler industry is heading for the high point of the year: the colorful, bright new product spectacular called EICMA. Tradition, however, does not help if a pandemic intervenes and then major manufacturers discover that they are no longer interested in the trade fair. The large two-wheeler salon in Milan is shrinking alarmingly. After the 2020 Corona break, EICMA actually wanted to go full throttle again from November 25th to 28th, but there are gaps that cannot be concealed.

You won't find names like BMW, Harley-Davidson, Indian or KTM on the list of participants. And, shock, even Ducati, the most Italian of the Italian brands, decided not to make an appearance at home. People swear by “digital formats”. Many other manufacturers are cutting their formerly pompous show and allowing themselves to be represented by their regional sales organization. What does that mean? Clear the stage for the Chinese! They used to be a marginal phenomenon with shockingly unadorned stands, unattractive vehicles and a stand staff who seemed to mainly deal with cell phones. Now they will show off: the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic itself has taken matters into its own hands and invites a large group of Chinese companies such as Znen to the presentation of urban and electrical conceptsDayang and Taomotor, Okai, Tromox and Yadea. Are these the names to remember for the future?
