Yesterday (11th) night in downtown Seoul, there was an accident in which a drunk driving vehicle collided with a traffic light, and the vehicle's feet were tied up due to the traffic jam.

Seoul Songpa Police Station is investigating a 43-year-old man A without detention on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act.

Mr. A was driving his car on the road in front of Exit 9 of Cheonho Station on Subway Line 5 in Cheonho-dong, Gangdong-gu, around 10:10 pm, and crashed into a pedestrian traffic light installed on a traffic island.

Traffic lights and signs were hit and fell, but no one was injured.

The driver of the vehicle following reported to the police, saying, "A car suspected of drunk driving hit a power pole and collapsed, but there was no signal and everything was congested."

When the police were dispatched to the scene, a breathalyzer test found that the driver's blood alcohol level was 0.142%, far exceeding the driver's license revocation standard.

The police decided to send the driver who was so drunk that it was difficult to investigate, and to schedule an investigation later.

One accident witness said in a phone call with SBS, "It was a time when there were many pedestrians around, so it was a dizzying situation to hit people."

A traffic island is an area established between lanes to protect pedestrians, and refers to a place where people can wait while crossing a crosswalk.

It is said that the congestion caused by the absence of a signal in the aftermath of the accident was resolved after tens of minutes.
