AP-HP staff "tried to end his life" Monday at Saint-Louis hospital where he was taken care of.

The facts occurred at the end of the morning, the agent "set himself on fire".

An agent of the Public Assistance-Hospitals of Paris (AP-HP) "tried to end his life" Monday at Saint-Louis hospital where he was taken care of, the institution announced, sources concordant evoking an immolation by fire.

"An agent attempted to end his life in the late morning in an office at Saint-Louis hospital," which "caused him serious injuries being taken care of within the hospital," said the AP-HP in a press release.

"His gesture (was) immediately controlled by a security staff" who had to be "admitted to the emergency reception service" and "is currently still hospitalized", adds the hospital group.

"A hospital caregiver who would have set himself on fire" 

A spokesman for the Paris fire brigade (BSPP), who intervened at the scene at noon, said that "a person would have set himself on fire" and that "a staff of the hospital would have intervened to extinguish it with a fire extinguisher ".

A version corroborated by the town hall of the 10th arrondissement which mentions "a hospital caregiver who would have set himself on fire" before being "rescued by the security guard who was right next to him".

The AP-HP underlines that "an accompaniment and a psychological support were very quickly set up for the professionals who wish it" and specifies that a meeting on the subject with the unions of the Saint-Louis hospital will take place Tuesday.
