Kim Man-bae, a major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management, one of the key figures in the Daejang-dong development lobby and preferential treatment case, appeared in court today (3rd) to receive questioning of the suspect before arrest.
Kim arrived at the Seoul Central District Court building where the interrogation was held at around 10:10 am today.
It has been 20 days since he was released from the first arrest interrogation on the 14th of last month.
"I deny everything," Kim said to the reporters who asked whether he admitted the charges.
Regarding the position that Lee Jae-myung only followed the guidelines of Seongnam Mayor at the time, he said, "He did the best administration, and we reported his administrative guidelines." .
Regarding some media reports that claimed that it would be difficult to hold Kim responsible for breach of trust if it was difficult to apply the breach of trust to Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, he said, "The lawyer explained that he was only following the city's administrative procedures and guidelines, but the media distorted it a bit. Regarding the fact that the prosecution did not request an arrest warrant for Jung Young-hak, an accountant who led the business design, he said, "There will be circumstances in the prosecution's own way," he said.
The charge of promising to pay 70 billion won in bribes to the former head of the Seongnam Urban Development Corporation's planning division, Yoo Dong-gyu, denied, saying, "There is no reason to give so much, and there is no reason to promise such a large amount."
Kim conspired with Yoo, former head of the planning division, lawyer Nam Wook, the owner of Cheonhwa-dong No. 4, and accountant Jeong Young-hak, the owner of No. 5, to give Hwacheon Daeyu at least 65.1 billion won in dividend income and substantial implementation profits in the process of the Daejang-dong development project. He is charged with driving and causing damage to the construction.
He is also accused of promising to pay 70 billion won of dividend profits to Yoo in return for such business preferential treatment, and stealing 500 million won of company money as a bribe.
He is also accused of embezzling 443 million won of company money by falsely registering the wife, brother, or acquaintance of former Future Korea Party Chairman Yoo Yu-cheol, who served as an advisor to Hwacheon Daeyu, as advisors or employees of Hwacheon Daeyu.
The interrogation of the suspects of Attorney Nam-wook and Jeong Min-yong (former head of the investment business team of the corporation), who have been requested for an arrest warrant as an accomplice on the charge of breach of trust, will be held this afternoon.
Attorney Nam is also accused of bribing Jung, who provided various conveniences, by stealing 3.5 billion won from his company from September to December last year and disguising it as a business investment.
