Indeed, a coffee table transforming into a computer station for teleworking was awarded the President of the Republic's prize, in the form of a Sèvres porcelain vase, the most prestigious prize of this competition founded in 1901.

Classified in the “connected universe” category, this multi-function table created by computer scientist Omar Seck and called “Jobstable” has a large screen that can be folded up, an integrated touch keyboard, four speakers and discs integrated drives. It transforms in 30 seconds. Its height is fully adjustable and "it can be connected to all laptops on the market", specifies the presentation distributed with the press kit for the Lépine competition. Designed for teleworking especially from a sofa, "it also has several storage spaces and incorporates different connections", underlines the Lépine competition.

"The idea is to simply arrive in the morning with your laptop, and when you start the day teleworking, to connect the computer with a single cable, to have a table that contains everything you need. you need to work, and in particular an […] ergonomic position to avoid hurting their backs for people who have small spaces and who do not necessarily have the space to put a desk in the living room ”, explains L 37-year-old inventor.

“Basically, it was a piece of furniture that I invented to play video games on my sofa”, long before the pandemic made teleworking take off, he laughs.

A hundred prizes awarded

The Senate Grand Prix is ​​also part of a context still marked by the Covid-19 pandemic since it rewards Eric Le Méné for his "Gel Express", a terminal aimed at applying a disinfectant solution by misting so as not to slow down the flow of users.

Finally, the National Assembly prize was awarded to Tally Fofana, Yannis Chelghoum, Samantha Mateso Lusadisu, Bassem Abdelaziz and Khalid Arazzak, for their “intelligent car anti-theft device”.

In total, around 100 prizes were awarded among the 300 or so inventions in competition.
