The families of those who died or suffered major side effects after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine filed a constitutional complaint. As it is difficult for individuals to prove damage to vaccines, the government must step in. The quarantine authorities said they would set up a relevant committee to strengthen investigations and damage support.

Reporter Park Chan-geun reports.

[We are not guilty of anything. The only crime is to get vaccinated.] In

front of the Constitutional Court, families of people who died or suffered serious side effects after

receiving the

Corona 19 vaccine gathered.

My son, sister, and mother, who were healthy without any pain, died after being vaccinated, and complained of injustice, saying that a causal relationship was not recognized.

They argued that it is unconstitutional for the victim and their family to bear all the burden of proof if the government does not acknowledge causality.

When it comes to getting a vaccine for the entire nation, it is said that when a fatal accident occurs, they are passive in response or compensation.

[Park Hee-joong / Survivors of the deceased after vaccination: I prayed to save only my (son) life. But my son couldn't even open his eyes like that, Dad, Mom... .] The

quarantine authorities investigated 7,984 cases of abnormal reactions reported up to the 25th, and 1 out of 3 cases acknowledged causality.

Moreover, the recognition rate decreases as the severity increases, with only 2 deaths out of 871 cases.

The quarantine authorities decided to set up a vaccine safety committee with top experts to investigate the adverse reaction data in order to relieve the public's inoculation anxiety.

Since there is no overseas precedent, we plan to analyze accumulated domestic reporting statistics even for 'cases with insufficient causality evidence' to broadly recognize them as eligible for medical expense support.

The limit on medical expenses has also been increased from 10 million won to 30 million won.
