The PlayStation 5 sold 3.3 million units in the second quarter of this year.

As a result, the console has now been sold a total of more than 13.4 million times, according to figures from Sony on Thursday.

Sony has been selling the PlayStation 5 since November 2020. Although the console is still poorly available at Dutch retail chains, Sony still manages to sell a lot.

In the first quarter of this year, 2.3 million units of the new console were sold.

Sony believes that the supply problems related to the global chip shortage will last at least until the end of the year.

The figures also show that sales of the PlayStation 4 have fallen sharply.

Only 200,000 copies were sold in the second quarter of this year.

In the first quarter, there were still 500,000.

Last year, a total of 5.7 million PlayStation 4s were sold.
