When it comes to separate collection, it was reported that even if the transparent plastic bottles are collected separately, they are mixed with other plastics, so that the purpose of the policy cannot be realized. But to be effective, this alone is not enough.

Environmental reporter Jang Se-man pointed it out.

Transparent plastic sacks are poured into the luggage compartment of a collection vehicle loaded with recycled plastics.

Transparent PET collected by apartment residents is mixed with general recycled plastics.

This issue was also pointed out in the state audit of the Ministry of Environment.

[Song Ok-ju/Democratic Lawmaker (Hwan-no-wi): I also work hard at home (separating PET), but this seems to be a

futile

effort and I think that I am mocking the public in a way.] When the

controversy over transparent PET wasted, the Ministry of Environment made 17 apartments across the country. We started a one-month mixed collection of plastic bottles from 1,000 places.

In addition, it was decided to designate six transparent PET collection methods.

Either use a dedicated vehicle that collects only transparent PET, designate a separate collection day, or divide the compartments so that they do not mix in the luggage compartment even if they are loaded on the same vehicle.

The problem is that even if they are not mixed at the collection stage, they are mostly mixed after going to the sorting company.

This is because only 20% of the sorting companies have separate processing facilities for transparent PET.

[Su-yeol Hong / Director of Resource Circulation Socio-Economic Research Institute: It is necessary to induce selected companies to invest in facilities.

Changing only the collection vehicle without resolving this fundamental problem is a temporary measure (it seems to be an attempt to avoid the problem)] How

to increase support for sorting companies, but to avoid facility investment penalizes contracts with apartment complexes can also be considered.
