As the supply of lettuce was disrupted due to a sudden cold wave, lettuce disappeared from McDonald's hamburgers, causing consumer complaints.

Recently, on an online community, a picture of a hamburger was uploaded along with the article, "I heard that lettuce is gone, but it's embarrassing to see the bulgogi macaron."

The hamburger in the photo has only patties between the bread, reminiscent of macarons.

Netizens posted pictures of McDonald's hamburgers without lettuce one after another, and complained, "What's wrong with a hamburger without lettuce?", "The texture isn't great because I only eat bread and meat", and "It looks strange and tastes bad."

Previously, McDonald's Korea announced on its website on the 21st that "The supply of lettuce may be less than usual or difficult to provide due to the unstable supply and demand of lettuce due to a sudden cold wave."

He added, "If you purchase a product containing lettuce, we will provide a free drink coupon that can be used in the store."

According to the Rural Development Administration, the average wholesale price per kg of lettuce at Garak Wholesale in Seoul on the 26th was 3,000 won, more than double the 1,307 won on the 12th.

A McDonald's official said, "We will do our best to normalize supply and demand as soon as possible," said a McDonald's official.

The same is true for franchises other than McDonald's.

Subway, which handles salads and sandwiches, posted an article on its website on the 24th, 'Notice of Temporary Suspension of Salad Sales'.

Subway said, "Salad products may be temporarily suspended at some stores, and lettuce in sandwiches is only provided in fixed quantities."

This is a 'news pick'.
