Yesterday (23rd), gas for fire suppression leaked from a building in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, and two people died.

The police today called the on-site construction manager to investigate.

In particular, we are intensively investigating why the button that sprays gas was pressed, but it was reported that anyone could operate it because there was no separate locking device.

Today, the police have called and investigated the officials of the company that carried out the underground construction of the data storage center building in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul.

Yesterday, a large amount of carbon dioxide for firefighting was leaked from the third basement floor here, killing two people and injuring 19 people.

The button is located in Generator Room 2, where the fatality occurred, and is covered with a cover, but there is no separate locking device, so it is said that anyone could open and operate the cover.

Since there were many subcontractors on the site at the time, we are looking into the possibility that someone may have pressed the button without knowing it or accidentally pressed it.

A police official explained that the cause of the accident has not yet been clearly proven, so all possibilities are open and the investigation is underway.

The police also secured CCTV inside the building and are analyzing the people who came to the work site and the situation at the time.

The fire department will visit the accident site tomorrow and inspect the fire fighting equipment, and the police and the National Forensic Service will soon conduct on-site inspections to investigate the cause of the accident.

While it was confirmed that the worker who died in the accident belonged to a subcontractor rather than a prime contractor, the Minister of Employment and Labor said that he would investigate the cause of the accident and take strict measures and come up with measures to prevent recurrence.
