The transport of medical samples by drone will be tested in Isère from next year by the BioGroup medical analysis laboratory.

This is a first in France.

Two air corridors are currently being studied, in Bourgoin-Jallieu and Tignieu-Jameyzieu.

The latter option would be the most likely, according to

Le Dauphiné Libéré

.

Testing is expected to begin in early 2022.

These airlifts must be set up, in agreement with the authorities, by Rigitech, a Swiss start-up which collaborates with BioGroup.

This company is also responsible for the development of drones.

These will be able to fly at 100 km / h, brave rain, snow and withstand gusts of 50 km / h.

No additional cost for customers

"It's a great project, very interesting for our patients who will have their results more quickly, but at the beginning, we will apply it exclusively on the emergency", explained to our colleagues Olivier Vidon, president of Biogroup / Oriade Noviale .

An adaptation time should be necessary, in particular for a "cohabitation between the drones and the cars which ensure the journeys between the sites of sampling and the technical platform".

After the tests, the official launch is expected to take place between 2022 and 2023. The full cost has not been mentioned but customers should not see a price difference.
