Pediatricians in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia have found that teens can develop certain tics from watching Teen TikTok videos featuring Gilles de la Tourette.

The problems came to light at the beginning of the corona pandemic.

Doctors were surprised, because they suddenly received many more reports of young people with tics.

The exact size of the increase is not stated.

The young people appeared to have in common that they watched TikTok videos with other young people with Gilles de la Tourette, a disorder of the nervous system that causes someone to develop tics.

Those videos have become extremely popular on the platform since the start of the pandemic.

Since March 2020, neurologist Donal Gilbert from the United States has received a tenfold increase in the number of applications from young people with such complaints.

Texas Children's Hospital received 60 applications during the same period, while the hospital had two or three applications before the corona pandemic.
