A son who assaulted and injured his 70-year-old father, who is battling Parkinson's disease, has been sentenced to probation for not going to work with him.

The Ulsan District Court's 6th Criminal Division (Judge Kim Do-young) announced today (19th) that a man in his 40s, who was charged with violating the Elderly Welfare Act, was sentenced to 1 year in prison, 2 years of probation, and 2 years of probation.

In August of this year, Mr. A was indicted on charges of hitting his father with a plastic shoehorn several times in his apartment in Nam-gu, Ulsan, and assaulting him with his hands and feet, causing injuries such as breaking his right rib.

Mr. A was said to have committed this kind of crime by swearing at his father when he asked him to go to work together, but when his father said he couldn't because he had no strength.

It is known that Mr. A's father has been suffering from Parkinson's disease for many years.

As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A did not give in to his mother's insistence and assaulted his father by swearing at him for 6 hours.

The court said, "The accused assaulted his father in front of his mother and inflicted injury, etc. The guilt is not light." "The judgment was made in consideration of the fact that the accused seems to be reflecting on his wrongdoing and that the victim's parents do not want punishment." and explained the reasons for the sentencing.
