Snapchat's major outage on Wednesday afternoon has been resolved, the company reports.

The outage prevented users from sending photos, videos or text messages to each other.

The outage started around 12:45 p.m.

The website received thousands of reports from people experiencing problems with the app.

Some users were also unable to log in.

The cause of the malfunction is not yet clear.

The company confirmed on Twitter that there were problems.

"We are aware that some Snapchatters are experiencing issues with the app. Hang in there, we'll figure it out," Snapchat wrote early in the afternoon.
