It has been pointed out that Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) is adhering to the outdated appearance standards of high-speed train crew members.

According to the 'KORAIL Service Manual' submitted by KORAIL by Rep. Kim Hoe-jae of the Democratic Party of Korea yesterday (12th), it was revealed that KORAIL's 'appearance and attire standards', which had been pointed out in the previous state audit, were not properly improved.

In the KORAIL service manual, regulations related to the appearance of female train cabin crew members were stipulated in the KORAIL service manual, such as "do not dye brightly colored hair or have strong wavy hair" and "use light pink and orange lipstick colors".

Regarding clothing, detailed regulations were included, such as "Earrings should be of an attachment type with a diameter of less than 1 cm that does not completely cover the earlobes", and regulations stipulating 'wearing underwear' such as "You must wear underwear when wearing a sanctuary" there was also

Regulations for male flight attendants such as "Use hair products to give a neat impression", "Keep the white part of the nail to less than 1.5mm in length", "Be careful not to change the shape of the employee's uniform with cigarettes, cell phones, keys, etc." This has been applied.

Rep. Kim pointed out, "Is makeup related to customer convenience? KORAIL's regulations regarding the appearance of female flight attendants are out of line with the essence of their work." Regulations on the shape and size of clothes and even the wearing of underwear can be felt as excessive restrictions from the point of view of workers.”

He also said, "In 2006, 15 years ago, KORAIL was recommended by the Human Rights Commission to improve the gender-discriminatory employment structure due to the separation of male and female flight attendants." There is no situation,” he said.

Rep. Kim continued, "I think the most important job of a flight attendant is customer safety. Please think about how to protect that value."

In response, Jung Wang-guk, acting president of Korea Railroad Corporation, replied, "We are currently hiring regardless of gender.
