Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, who was charged with illegally administering propofol, a psychotropic drug, appears in court today (12th).
Judge Young-chae Jang, the 11th Criminal Independent of the Seoul Central District Court, will hold the first trial against Lee, who was charged with violating the Narcotics Control Act at 3 pm today.
Vice Chairman Lee was handed over to trial on charges of habitual administration of propofol, not for medical purposes, at a plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam, Seoul.
The hospital visited by Vice Chairman Lee was also found to have illegally administered propofol to actor Ha Jung-woo and former Aekyung Development CEO Chae Seung-seok.
All of them were found guilty in criminal trials.
In June, the prosecution filed a summary indictment against Lee for a fine of 50 million won, but requested a formal trial saying that the indictment could be changed according to the results of the additional investigation.
