The son of Kwak Sang-do, who received 5 billion won in severance pay from Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management (Hwacheon Daeyu), which is suspected of preferential treatment for the Daejang-dong development project in Seongnam-si, returned home after an eight-hour police investigation.
Kwak, who came out from the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, at around 9:20 pm on the 8th, said, "Do you still deny the claim that the 5 billion won severance pay is a bribe to your father?" To the reporter's question, "Is there not?", he did not say anything and only answered, "I have faithfully explained the performance-related pay."
Mr. Kwak joined Hwacheon Daeyu in June 2015 and worked for 5 years and 9 months until March of this year.
Kwak and Hwacheon Daeyu said that the amount was the sum of the severance pay, bonuses, and consolation money for tinnitus, but a civic group accused Kwak and his wife of bribery.
