Mo Park, the head of a criminal organization who introduced himself as 'team leader Kim Mi-young' and conducted a voice phishing scam, was arrested. Damage alone is estimated to reach 40 billion won. The arrested Mr. Park, a former police officer, used a technique he learned during an investigation in the past to commit the crime.

This man, who got into the van with his hands tied, is Mr. Park, the head of a voice phishing crime group that starts with the introduction of 'team leader Kim Mi-young.'



Park worked as a police officer and was dismissed in 2008 on charges of bribery.



Since 2012, we have been operating a voice phishing organization, and the amount of damage revealed alone is KRW 8 billion, and the total amount of damage is estimated at KRW 40 billion.



The organization hired Chinese hackers to get a list of 200,000 people who had been denied loans from financial institutions, and then used a tactic to access victims.

past, Park worked in a cyber investigation team at a police station in Seoul, and it is known that he used the methods of the voice phishing criminals that he investigated at that time.



He even brought the three suspects he personally investigated into the organization.



In the 2013 police investigation, only some of the members of the gang were arrested, and key figures such as Mr. Park fled abroad.



The police followed the gang for nine years together with the National Intelligence Service, and first arrested other members of the gang who hid in the Philippines.



After two weeks of incubation in a rural village 400 km away from Manila, the capital of the Philippines, Park succeeded in arresting Mr.



The police plan to continue the investigation after repatriating Park and other arrested members to South Korea.
