Nintendo has announced an expansion of its Switch Online service, a subscription that allows people to play online games.

The expansion makes it possible to play games from the Nintendo 64 (N64) and the SEGA Mega Drive on the Switch in addition to SNES and NES games.

Nintendo also reissues controllers from those systems.

To play the games, people have to add an extension to their subscription. Nintendo calls it the 'Expansion Pack'. This will probably increase the price of the Switch Online subscription (now 20 euros per year), but the company says it will announce more about this later. The Expansion Pack will be available at the end of October.

The Expansion Pack gives people access to a selection of N64 and Mega Drive games.

N64 games include such classics as

Nintendo Switch Online members can purchase matching N64 and SEGA Mega Drive controllers to play the games as before, but wirelessly.
