is a discussion going on over the booster shot, that is, the method of giving booster shots to those who have completed the vaccination. First, the American advisory group recommended that only vulnerable people such as the elderly 65 years or older, not all, should be vaccinated. This final decision may also affect our booster doses.

<Reporter> The

booster shot recommended by the US Food and Drug Administration and FDA advisory committee, that is, the target of booster vaccination is vulnerable groups such as the elderly 65 years of age or older and medical workers.

The U.S. government originally planned to give a booster dose to anyone 8 months after the second dose of Pfizer vaccine, but this has put the brakes on that policy.

The advisory committee voted on Pfizer's proposal to provide booster shots to all 16-year-olds and older who have been vaccinated for six months.

The result was a 16 to 2 rejection, and the reason is that the effectiveness and safety of the booster vaccination for all age groups have not been sufficiently verified.

[Phil Krauss/Deputy Director, FDA Vaccine Review Office: One of the problems is that a lot of the data being discussed regarding the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has not been reviewed by other experts or the FDA.] Although

this advisory committee recommendation is not legally binding, it has been FDA has accepted most of their recommendations.

A final decision from the FDA will likely affect our booster immunization plans as well.

The Korean government recommended that people who have been vaccinated for more than 6 months after completing the vaccination last month should be given a booster dose, and said that the elderly and those with weakened immunity can get a booster dose even before 6 months.

However, the age group for permission to vaccinate was not divided.

[Jung Eun-kyung / Director of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (last month 30th): Additional vaccinations have priority. Additional vaccinations are scheduled to start from high-risk groups, such as nursing hospitals, hospitals that treat residents and workers of nursing facilities and those diagnosed with COVID-19… .] The

government will confirm and disclose detailed plans such as the target and timing of booster vaccination within this month.
