On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the TGV, a model of the future TGV-M will be unveiled at the end of the morning at the Gare de Lyon by Emmanuel Macron in the presence of Jean-Pierre Farandou, the president of the SNCF.

What will this future TGV planned for 2024 look like?

Response elements.

The TGV is celebrating its 40th anniversary this Friday.

Huge industrial and commercial success, the high-speed train revolutionized the movement of the French.

The famous train, inaugurated under the presidency of François Mitterrand in 1981, is honored this Friday by the SNCF.

The State aims to relaunch the locomotive by 2024 with a new prototype: the TGV-M, which presents several improvements compared to its predecessor.

Aerodynamic and ecological

The train of the future will first of all have a more aerodynamic nose to facilitate eco-driving.

With its braking system, energy savings will be 20% compared to the current TGV.

The SNCF also promises an innovation wagon, a train more resistant to shocks, new lighting and 5G.

A modular interior allowing a first class train to switch quickly to second class is also planned.

This new TGV will be able to accommodate 740 passengers, almost 200 more people than a TGV Duplex.
