Puzzled walkers

The 12 kilos of cocaine - with a total value of 850,000 euros at the current market price - ran aground between Ambleteuse and Cap Gris-Nez. These are walkers who have found the unusual merchandise during a stroll. On the beach, strollers were surprised at the discovery. "I was quite surprised anyway, because you don't expect that. Okay, there are walkers. Fortunately, they had good reflexes. You never know, if they are children, young people ... It's rather worrying all the same, "warns Marie-Hélène, observing the rising tide.

The cocaine loaves were reportedly thrown overboard by the traffickers.

"There are a lot of checks because of the migrants. We see boats sailing non-stop offshore. So in my opinion, they must have been surprised," explains another walker.

"The most likely hypothesis is that they would come from a boat, rather from the open sea than from the land," said Patrick Leleu, the deputy public prosecutor, while the gendarmes continued Thursday to "look for others. breads ".
