In the early part of this Chuseok holiday (September 18-22), the 14th typhoon 'Chantu' is passing away and the weather is clear and cool.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted in an online regular briefing today (16th) that on the 18th and 20th days during the Chuseok holiday, the typhoon passed east and high pressure would affect Korea, and generally clear and cool weather would continue.

However, the Korea Meteorological Administration urged ships sailing or fishing to be especially careful as the waves can rise up to 4 meters high, mainly in the eastern and eastern seas of the South Sea, until noon on the 18th, when the typhoon moves from the East Sea to the vicinity of Japan.

There is rain on the day of Chuseok and the day after.

As a low pressure developed in inland China passes through the northern part of Korea, rain will spread nationwide in the morning, starting in the west at the dawn of the 21st.

Then, as the low pressure moves to the east, the rain will stop sequentially from the west on the afternoon of the 21st, and dry air will flow into the back of the low pressure, which may temporarily improve the sky condition.

However, a relatively small amount of rain is expected to fall again in the central region from the dawn of the 22nd to the morning of the 22nd due to the effect of secondary rain clouds.

It is unknown whether we will be able to see the full moon this Chuseok.

The sky is overcast because it rained that day, but the rain clouds are moving fast and it is impossible to say that it will not be visible.

An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration explained, "As rain is forecast for the 21st, the sky may remain invisible as a whole, but it is still too early to give up because there is still a possibility of seeing the moon considering that the rain clouds are rather early."

On the 20th, before the low pressure approaches, strong winds will blow from the central sea of the West Sea, and from the 21st, when the low pressure will pass, strong winds will blow from the East Sea and the waves will rise.

An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration emphasized, "There is a high risk of traffic accidents in the rain and fog on the 21st and 22nd, so please pay special attention to sea and land traffic safety."

The official also said, "The rain expected from the 21st to the 22nd is very flexible at the start and end times and intensity of precipitation depending on the movement of low pressure and the rate of inflow of dry air. Please be sure to check the information and the neighborhood forecast,” he added.
