As the spread of COVID-19 in Korea continues, the number of new confirmed cases today (16th) reached the mid-1,900 range.

The Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters (Bangdaebon) announced that as of 00:00 today, there were 1,943 new confirmed cases, bringing the total to 279,930.

It has dropped 137 people from yesterday (2,080 people), down to 2,000 people.

Compared to 2,049 people on Thursday of last week (as of 00:00 on the 9th) a week ago, 106 people decreased.

Although the number of confirmed cases has decreased somewhat, it is difficult to see that the spread of the virus has slowed as group infections are occurring one after another in the metropolitan area where the population is concentrated.

In particular, the proportion of confirmed cases in the metropolitan area to the total number of confirmed cases is around 80% every day, and the Chuseok holiday, when a large-scale population movement is expected, begins this weekend, raising concerns about a nationwide spread.

If you look at the route of infection of the new confirmed cases today, 1,921 cases were local and 22 were imported.

The 4th pandemic, which started in the metropolitan area in early July, has been going on for well over two months.

The number of confirmed cases per day was counted at four digits for 72 days in a row since July 7 (1,211 people).

If you look at the new confirmed cases in the last week from the 10th to today, 1,892 → 1,865 → 1,755 → 1,433 → 1,497 → 2,80 → 1,943 by day At least 1,400 people came out every day, and at most around 2,000 people came and went.
