“Less than an hour ago, the Russian-American naval expedition NABOS-2021 left the Arctic.

The scientific expeditionary vessel "Akademik Treshnikov" left the Norwegian port of Kirkenes with an international group of scientists from Russia, the USA, Japan and Norway on board, "the Ice Telegram channel quoted TASS as saying.

The members of the expedition will conduct research in the Laptev Sea, the East Siberian Sea, as well as in the deep-water part of the Arctic Ocean.

One of the goals of the expedition is to study climate change in the Arctic.

Earlier in the Arctic, exercises of the Northern Fleet began with the involvement of up to 8 thousand military personnel, about 800 pieces of equipment and up to 50 ships and support vessels.
