  • PLATFORMS: Secrets of a marriage, the series that can lead you to rethink your relationship as a couple

The third and final season of

The Hunt

was broadcast by the BBC in 2016 and subsequently by AXN in Spain. The most versed series consumers spoke of the excellent quality of

this dark

thriller

starring a Gilliam Anderson who seemed to have made a pact with the devil in an

X-Files

chapter

and by

Jamie Dornan

, the Christian Gray of the film saga based on the best-selling hit by

E. L James

. But it is now, eight years after the first episode aired, that the gritty series created by

Allan Cubitt

set in Belfast, it has become a phenomenon thanks to word of mouth and its prominent presence in Netflix recommendations.

We break down the reasons.

The detective

Detective Stella Gibson (Anderson) doesn't cheat on anyone.

He is a complex character, who is very clear about what he wants and when he wants it

.

He does it thanks to his masterful mastery of the times and not to get down with what comes to him, be it a superior or a lover who does not assume his role.

Scotland Yard Detective Superintendent, Gibson arrives in Belfast to help solve the murder of a young architect that ends up having more ramifications than expected, causing her to become supervisor of the investigation carried out by the Police Service of Northern Ireland. (PSNI).

The murderer

Paul Spector (Dornan) is a shy and handsome psychologist, father of two adored children, with a perfect family life from outside eyes that hides

a meticulous serial killer who kills thirty-year-old, highly skilled women

, whom he previously obsessively spies.

The way in which he poses his attacks provoke rejection and reflection, since the production does not stop when it comes to delving into the ramifications of sexist violence.

The realism

The rawness runs through the 15 chapters of the series.

It is shocking to see in this way the work not only of the police officers, but also of forensics, health personnel, funeral home workers ...

There is violence in front of children, there is pain when seeing how the little ones suffer physically but also emotional

.

Characters such as Jim Burns (

John Lynch

), PSNI Assistant Chief of Police and responsible for the landing in Northern Ireland of Gibson (his former lover) clearly shows how a position of responsibility takes its toll.

Belfast

The social and political tensions that still remain latent in a Northern Ireland where the armed conflict is not so far away makes an appearance from the first episode.

The division between unionist Protestants and nationalist Catholics drains between the experiences of the characters

, with the figure of Morgan Monroe (

Ian McElhinney

) as the greatest exponent.

One of Spector's victims was his daughter-in-law, so he will use all his power as a unionist minister in the government of Northern Ireland to pressure the police to resolve the case.
