Near Saint-Charles train station and in the northern districts

It all started around 10:30 p.m. Shots rang out for the first time in a small street in the city center, near the Saint-Charles train station. Of the three attackers, one shot two men, killing a 25-year-old homeless man and leaving a 31-year-old injured who could be rescued. These two people were not known to the police. The investigation is moving towards rivalries between street cigarette sellers. The judicial police were seized for "organized homicide", "attempted homicide in an organized gang" and "criminal conspiracy".

A few hours later, around 2 a.m., a second shooting took place in the city of Renaude, in the northern districts of the city.

According to the elements communicated by the prosecution, "several individuals" arrived in a vehicle and opened fire on another vehicle in which were two young men who managed to "flee and take refuge. in a nearby apartment ".

One of them, about 25 years old, died of his injuries.

The second, 21 years old and known to the police, was also found at the scene, shocked but not injured.

15 deaths linked to drug trafficking in 2021

Due to the locations and profiles of the victims, the two cases would be quite distinct.

Only the shooting in the city of Renaude could be linked to drug trafficking since it is a known point of sale, even if it is identified as being of relatively low importance on the scale of the city.

"La Renaude is one of the most difficult cities that we have to manage", explains Christian Gil, general manager of the social landlord Habitat Marseille Provence, "with a very tough deal point, with a barrier at the entrance and control. people wanting to enter ".

Since the beginning of the year, 15 people have died in settlements linked to drug trafficking, according to figures from the police headquarters, including 12 during the summer.
