The first trial was held against a citizen of Ansan, Gyeonggi, who was diagnosed with Corona 19 after traveling to Jeju while taking fever-reducing drugs despite the symptoms of Corona 19 last year.

On the afternoon of the 7th, the Jeju District Court held the first trial on a claim for damages filed by Jeju Island and two affected companies against Corona 19 confirmed person A in Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do.

It has been over a year and two months since the complaint was filed with the Jeju District Court on July 9, last year.

According to Jeju Island, Mr. A arrived in Jeju with his party at 2:50 pm on June 15, 2020, enjoyed a trip for 4 days and 3 nights, and then left Jeju at around 12:30 pm on the 18th of the same month.

The next day, on the 19th, in Seoul, he was confirmed with Corona 19.

During the epidemiological investigation, it was confirmed that Mr. A had visited more than 10 tourist destinations and restaurants. At that time, 56 people who had contacted Mr. A went into self-quarantine, and 21 companies had to close their doors.

In addition, as a result of the investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A felt body aches and colds from the 16th, the day after arriving in Jeju, and took 10 antipyretic tablets over two days.

Jeju Island and the two affected companies filed a claim for damages of 130 million won against Mr.

At the first trial on the 7th, Mr. A claimed, "The antipyretics I took at the time had been routinely taken for decades."

In response, Jeju Island countered that it was necessary to check whether Mr. A had contact with a confirmed case of Corona 19 during his trip to Jeju and received a self-quarantine notice from the local government.

The court requested the Jeju Island side to provide evidence of the damage. The second hearing will be held on October 26th.
